The best part of a couples getaway can be how little you have to schedule. This three-day Norfork Lake itinerary is built around settling in, spending time outside and leaving enough room to enjoy your cabin.

Friday: make arrival part of the getaway

Shop for groceries before leaving the Mountain Home area or another town on your route. Sunset Cove is in rural Elizabeth, about 40 minutes from Mountain Home, and the final approach includes approximately four miles of dirt road. Arrive in daylight if you would feel more comfortable seeing the road on your first visit. Check conditions with your host and bring a vehicle suited to the approach.

Choose the cabin that fits your weekend

The Couples Retreat sleeps two in a one-bedroom cabin with lake views. The Treehouse Cabin sleeps up to three and offers an elevated woodland setting with tall windows. Both have private hot tubs, as does the two-bedroom Mountain Cabin. Compare the photos and sleeping arrangements rather than choosing only by the view. Each has its own Airbnb availability page.

Saturday morning: take coffee to the water

Start at your own pace, then make your way to the shared lakeside decks. You do not have to book an excursion to spend meaningful time by Norfork Lake. Bring a book, put your phone away for a while, or just sit together. Ask your host about the current shoreline route and any water equipment available for your stay.

Saturday afternoon: leave the plan open

In pool season, spend part of the afternoon at the estate’s shared lakeview pool. Outside the season, let the cabin and its private hot tub be the center of the trip. A drive into Mountain Home is another option if you want time in town, but there is no need to fill the entire day. Confirm seasonal amenities before making them the reason for your booking.

Sunday: give yourself a gentle departure

Have breakfast at the cabin and leave time to pack without rushing. Follow your reservation’s checkout instructions and time. If this is an anniversary or another occasion, tell your host before arrival and ask what arrangements may be available. Special touches are personal and should be discussed, rather than assumed to be included.
